Emergency Assistance

Each year, the Metro Atlanta Red Cross responds immediately to more than ­700 disasters, including house or apartment fires (the majority of disaster responses), hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, hazardous materials spills, and other natural and man-made disasters in our 15- county area. Trained Red Cross volunteers and staff are ready 24-hours-a-day, year-round to meet the disaster-caused needs of people in our community:

Disaster Preparedness

The Red Cross works year-round to help people prepare for disasters and emergencies before they happen through the sharing of information, community presentations and public service announcements. Our goals are to:

  • Raise public awareness of the natural and human-caused hazards that threaten them
  • Educate people on what they can and should do to better protect themselves and their property and
  • Motivate people to take these steps
