Our Injury Prevention modules supplement the core courses in our Workplace Training Program. Choose from a variety of one-hour modules to supplement your core training program with a specialized module within the same training day.

Slips, Trips, and Falls

Slips, trips, and falls are among the leading causes of injuries in the workplace. They affect people from all occupations because anyone can be at risk for three reasons: lack of safety awareness, unsafe conditions, and unsafe behaviors.

  • Understand how safety awareness can reduce your risk of slips, trips, or falls.
  • Identify, report, and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors.
  • Learn tips for good balance.
  • Develop a prevention plan.

Back Injury Prevention

A back injury in simple terms is damage to the spine or to its supporting structures that house and protect the spinal cord. Back injuries can result in pain, lost income, emotional stress, and disability.

  • Understand the anatomy of the back and the causes of back pain.
  • Identify and reduce risk factors for back injury.
  • Learn how to perform simple exercises for stretching and strengthening neck and back muscles to help prevent back injury.
  • Identify ways to change personal habits to avoid back injury.

Workplace Violence Awareness

According to the U.S. Department of Justice, approximately two million assaults and threats of violence occur each year in the workplace. Workplace violence contributes to employee injuries, stress, increased sick days, reduced morale, lost wages, and higher health care costs.

  • Recognize the categories of workplace violence.
  • Identify warning signals of potential workplace violence.
  • Reduce your risk of becoming a victim of workplace violence.

Ergonomics

Musculoskeletal disorders, known as MSDs, are injuries often associated with repetitive strain or damage to muscles, tendons, nerves, and joints. By applying ergonomic principles taught in this class, you may reduce your risk for MSDs and make any task less taxing on your body.

  • Understand how to apply ergonomic principles

  • Know how to perform exercises to help reduce the risk of MSDs

Your Heart Matters

Coronary heart disease can limit opportunities to work productively and enjoy a full personal life with family and friends by significantly reducing your life span. This module gives individuals and introduction to the knowledge necessary to reduce their risk of coronary heart disease.

Managing Stress

Everyone one of us experiences stress at some point in our lives. Stress is not always unpleasant or harmful, but the amount and how one deals with stress can lead to adverse health effects and lost time at work and reduced productivity.
